Details from Our Past and Present
Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute's (AORI's) long-term studies have led to new insights and orthopaedic products. The benefits of such studies were dramatically exemplified by the development of first FDA-approved, porous-coated, cementless hip implant. This hip implant was pioneered by Anderson Clinic physician Dr. Charles Engh (see About THR) in the early 1970s, and has been the subject of numerous follow-up studies at our Institute.
Long-term studies also shed light on the effectiveness of surgical techniques and the processes of patient care. We disseminate our findings through peer-review journals, orthopaedic text books, lay publications, videos, and other means.
AORI publications discuss orthopaedic issues such as:
- Long-term effectiveness of cementless implants
- Principles of biological fixation
- Treatment of complications
- Revision procedures
- Techniques for total hip and total knee arthroplasties
