Our Physicians

Charles A. Engh, M.D.

Dr. Charles, as he is fondly called by his patients, pioneered the development of the porous-coated cementless implant for hips and knees, an innovation that has changed the nature of joint replacement surgery. He has also provided leadership to make The Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic the largest orthopaedic practice in the region and an important center for teaching and research.

With the active support of patients and their families, for more than 25 years Dr. Engh has compiled data on joint replacement that is used by physicians all over the country. As an authority on joint replacement who is recognized worldwide, Dr. Engh has published in scores of journals and conducted presentations and grand rounds throughout the United States and in many foreign countries.

According to Dr. Engh, "No matter what activities we are involved in, our primary concern is always for the well being of the individual patient. Over the years, patients and their families have supported our work and made it possible for our research to advance. We hold them in the highest regard."
