John L. Albrigo, M.D.John Albrigo delivered his first scientific paper while still in high school, as part of a program for gifted high school students presented at Cornell University. Having decided at an early age on a medical career, he earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Georgetown University and a medical degree from the State University of New York. He completed his internship and residency at the Yale University School of Medicine. While at Yale, Dr. Albrigo participated in the first hip and knee replacement operations. Since then, he has specialized in joint replacement and reconstruction, conducting research and collaborating on development of new techniques, surgical instruments and implants. "Restoring quality of life through joint reconstruction for the patient with severe arthritis or for the severely injured athlete is the greatest source of satisfaction to me," he comments. Dr. Albrigo also serves as medical director of The Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic. When he is not treating patients, conducting research or preparing to present papers, Dr. Albrigo enjoys being with his family and spending time outdoors on his farm or playing golf.
